Yorkshire Spa Retreat Helmsley began as a boutique lodge destination with a co-ownership model rarely found in the UK market. CEO Miles Dewhurst explains how the evolution is driven by a focus on wellness.
As demand for wellness tourism grew, the business recognised an opportunity to evolve its offering. The launch of its itinerary-based three-night Wellness Retreats mark a significant step in that journey.
“We always intended to install a gym, but the Wellness Retreats gave the space a clear focus,” said Miles. “Technogym helped us create the premium space that is integral to our vision.”
The new gym and studio facilities sit alongside the retreat’s wider wellness offering, which includes healthy dining, organic spa treatments, a hydrotherapy pool, Himalayan salt sauna, herbal steam room and a wild swim pond surrounded by parkland.

As the Wellness Retreat vision grew, the gym and studio evolved, with Technogym advising on layout, equipment selection and the integration of digital fitness solutions to enhance guest experience and lodge co-owner lifestyle.
As the project progressed, Technogym helped refine how the space could flex between guided retreat programming and independent training. This collaborative approach ensured the gym and studio became a vital part of the site-wide wellness ecosystem.

The addition of Technogym Bench to each Technogym Visio station gives users a compact and versatile training solution, with additional equipment in the Technogym Universe wall to support strength sessions, HIIT, mobility, and functional training.
