Champions Train with Technogym: Bebe Vio

Enthusiasm, courage, determination and passion. These are without a doubt the adjectives that apply to Beatrice Maria Adelaide Marzia Vio – now known to everyone as Bebe Vio – the fencer, writer, Italian TV personality (born on 4 March 1997, in Venice) and Technogym Ambassador.

Enthusiasm, courage, determination and passion: Bebe has so much of these, since she started fencing at the age of five. As she tells us, it was a sport that she chose by accident: having missed a lesson of volleyball, she saw the open door and happened upon a room full of “white zorros” who she saw then, as a child, practising fencing: it was ‘love at first sight’, which then projected her into an extraordinary career including three European golds in the singles, two continental team titles, four individual world titles, and a team world title. Never has the noun “determination” been more fitting than for the Venetian athlete, and it was this, together with passion, that enabled Bebe to crown her stellar career with two Olympic gold medals in the Paralympic individual foil event: Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, to which the bronze team medal was also added.

And now for Paris 2024, her third Olympics, her dream is to replicate what she did in Tokyo, and not just in terms of the medals won. Fly2paris is the new communication project promoted by art4sport, the non-profit organisation founded by Bebe Vio and her parents that supports amputee children through sport. The athletes in the A4S team will fly to Paris to inspire the young generations with sport. Bebe will be fighting in Paris, not just in the competitions, but also for inclusion through sport.

Because, as Vio tells us, “the most exciting part of a competition is not the race itself but being together with everyone, the athletes and trainers, managing to create the perfect balance that lets you say that this is your place in the world”.

Out of all the Technogym products that Bebe Vio uses for her athletic conditioning, her favourite choice is the iconic and versatile Technogym Bench, designed to combine maximum variety in training with a minimal footprint. Fencing requires functional and strength training and the all-in-one station allows over 200 total body exercises to be carried out in a simple and effective way: knuckles, for the best ab training; elastics, to vary the intensity of exercises with different resistance; dumbbells, for strength training; and a training mat, for optimal comfort and stability during exercises.
