With a 100-year history of academic sports programmes, Liverpool John Moores is a world leader in sports and exercise science. To mark the next stage of the University’s sports participation agenda, LJMU Sport has unveiled a £14 million sports building and gym.
The vast L-shaped gym is set over two floors and is the most eye-catching element of LJMU Sport’s incredible sports facility development, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the piazza. The gym includes a full range of EXCITE LIVE, a large PURE strength zone with Olympic Half Racks and SKILLRUN to offer students the very best.

Holywell Fitness Centre, Loughborough University – Loughborough, UK
Holywell Fitness Centre consists of a large fitness suite, two fitness class studios and the new Victory Hall sports hall. The latest addition to the University’s sporting facilities it ensures the university can provide excellent health and fitness facilities to all students, staff and the community in a vibrant and inspirational environment.
The fitness suite include Technogym Artis range, Skillbike, Skillrow and Skillrun and a large Outrace functional frame and totals over 75 cardio and 70 resistance pieces. The mix of equipment offers users a wide range of choice to suit the beginner who is new to exercise through to a seasoned athlete.

Powerbase, Loughborough University – Loughborough, UK
Recognised as one of the largest strength and conditioning gyms in the UK, Powerbase is a facility designed to maximise athletic potential. The elite level gym provides a home to many Olympic and Paralympic athletes, as well as many of the country’s leading sports teams. The sector leading facility houses an extensive range of strength and conditioning equipment including PURE, a range of state-of-the-art plate loaded kit designed to maximise power and sports performance training. At the centre of the gym, an impressive 12 weightlifting platforms feature, with Olympic Power Racks offering performance athletes maximum workout versatility, as well as additional space to teach and analyse lifting technique. The cardio zone has its own dedicated mezzanine floor overlooking the complete facility, with pieces from Skill Line providing both students and athletes with the ultimate performance training experience.
Cityspace, University Of Sunderland – Sunderland, UK
The University of Sunderland’s iconic fitness facility, CitySpace, overlooks City Campus and is a central hub for both sport and social activity at the university. The Fitness Suite underwent a complete refit in 2017 and now showcases over 70 stations split over two levels. The gym has a wide range of cardio and strength equipment, with key areas dedicated to Technogym’s SKILL LINE.CitySpace has created a personalised student experience by incorporating Technogym’s digital platform, MYWELLNESS. Using the MYWELLNESS app, students can access their customised fitness program, track their workouts both in and out of the gym, and see their progress using body analyser Tanita.

The Edge at University of Leeds is a state of the art fitness, sport and wellbeing complex designed to provide students with a premium experience. Students have plenty to choose from with the fitness suite, swimming pools, sports halls and cycle circuit all under one roof. The Edge is one of the largest university gyms in the UK, housing an impressive 250 stations including ARTIS.ARTIS is the top of the range cardio and strength line which provides students with a fully connected and personalised training experience, and with the incorporation of the UNITY platform, students can access engaging digital experiences at any time during their workout.
