How Colets supports active ageing with Technogym Biostrength

Combining Biostrength, digital engagement and personalized journeys to help members age actively, improve wellbeing and stay connected.

How Colets supports active ageing with Technogym Biostrength

A vision for active ageing and inclusive wellness

Colets Health and Fitness, located in Thames Ditton, London, is an independent, not-for-profit private health club with a strong community focus. Serving a multi-generational membership mainly aged 30 to 70, the club offers gym, pool, group classes, squash and spa facilities. In December 2024, Colets refurbished its gym to create a more modern and inclusive training experience, with a particular focus on helping members age well by developing strength, balance, confidence and long-term wellbeing. The Technogym solution included Biostrength, Skill Line and Excite equipment, Go Hybrid, Live Premium Content, Technogym App and Mywellness CRM features including assessment suite, bookings, campaigns, automation and shop. The project was supported by consulting services and integration with EZ Runner.

Supporting active ageing with Biostrength

Before the refurbishment, Colets needed to better support an ageing gym population transitioning into appropriate forms of training. The club also lacked a central communication platform, while members followed a standard induction without personalized journeys and assessments were not consistently managed or reviewed. Technogym Biostrength was introduced to provide a more accessible alternative to traditional free-weight training. It quickly proved particularly effective among members over 60, supporting Colets’ commitment to personalized training, education and community. The team subsequently created the Health and Vitality programme, an eight-week small-group course designed for members over 60. Led by specialist trainers, the programme combines Biostrength with complementary exercises focused on key health and wellbeing indicators. Each course begins with a Technogym Checkup assessment, establishing benchmark data such as strength and balance scores. After eight weeks of targeted training, members complete a second assessment, providing measurable evidence of progress that they can access through the Technogym App.

A digital ecosystem for engagement

The Technogym App became a central touchpoint for communication and engagement, both inside and outside the gym. Members can access bookings, notifications, gym updates, educational content, timetables, professional profiles and service promotions, while the club can use member data to support more relevant communication. Journey automation also strengthened onboarding and follow-up. Colets aimed to onboard all members onto the app and introduced a 30-day journey with touchpoints based on education and training habits. This contributed to 50% of members using the app across the facility. Marketing campaigns delivered through equipment and the app communicate updates and promote services, increasing staff efficiency by 75% and allowing the team to spend more time supporting members on the gym floor.
“For our refurbishment we looked for best-in-class partners who could support our vision of delivering the best to members."

Results and impact

Colets grew from 3,000 members before the Technogym solution to 5,893 current members, with 3,048 active members and 63% engaged users. The club records 48,993 workouts per month, including 6,542 Biostrength workouts, while Technogym Checkup penetration reached 43%, with 1,620 assessments completed in six months. Biostrength adoption has been particularly strong: 77% of active users train with Biostrength, while gym usage increased by 61%. Retention among loyalty members with active membership reached 66%. Following the initial installation, Colets added four more Biostrength pieces of equipment in response to demand. The digital journey also supports commercial growth. With Personal Training and Reformer Classes as upsell services, Colets generates an average £2,000 per month in upselling value. As Anais El-Kadiri, Head of Gym and Fitness, explains: “For our refurbishment we looked for best-in-class partners who could support our vision of delivering the best to members. Technogym offered advanced equipment, with Biostrength, digital solutions with Technogym App and ongoing education for our members.” Through Biostrength, Checkup and its digital ecosystem, Colets has created a more inclusive, measurable and personalized approach to active ageing—supporting members throughout their journey while strengthening engagement, retention and community.
"Technogym offered advanced equipment, with Biostrength, digital solutions with Technogym App and ongoing education for our members.”
